Dr Scholls Review Part 3

Sorry to my blog followers, it has been quite some time since my last post.

I am here to review on the Dr Scholl's Socks as I have just got an enquiry from US if I am still selling the socks =). I am unaware that there isn't any Dr Scholl's socks available in US. When I first visited Tokyo a few years back, the socks wasn't available in Singapore retailers too.

However, the socks came to Singapore 2-3 years back and it price was quite steep at the Watsons store. You can either wait for Watsons offers and member sales or you can also head to Chinatown's toiletries store at People's park complex. I saw them selling the socks at a slightly cheaper price.

Currently, I am only left with the black/pink limited edition Long Socks. Please let me know if you are interested to get them at SGD$55 excluding shipping.

Now for the review on the socks after 3 years of using it.

I have lost the photo which I took my last calves measurement as my laptop's HDD crashed. =( Nevertheless, let me do the review based on my best knowledge.

I do not wear the socks everyday as I am not so hardworking =). However, I put them on whenever I remember to do so and after my strenuous exercises and long hours of walking in heels or shopping.

As mentioned in my last review, it helps to tighten the calves during bedtime and the next morning, I feel my calves much lighter and the calves muscles weren't that tight as compared to the previous night. Sometimes I wonder if this is the same as the model's method of "raising your legs 90 degrees for 20 mins before bed". Some tips I got from the web to relief tired legs.

After 3 years of using the same pair of socks and at least 5 times of washing, the socks loses its elasticity slightly. I guess the lifespan of the socks is about 2.5 years with minimal washing frequency. What I would recommend is to wash your socks when it is dirty or when you feel that it is not clean for wearing anymore. Tumble dry and do not drip dry. Just lay flat to dry. =) Just my 3 cents.

I will be getting a new socks once I moved in to my new house and am ready for more beauty routines =). I always feel that keeping our calves sexy and slim looking is very important as this is actually one of the first few parts (of course that includes hair and breasts) that some guys set their eyes on when they first look at any women. Look at some statistics here.

Weekend haul

There is a Metro 20% storewide sale this weekend and I took the chance to grab some of my skincare that is running out.

Ettusais make off, Biotherm moisturiser and (to chalk up to $150 purchase to get some freebies) Biotherm make up base in purple.

Also, I took the chance of my impulsive shopping mood today and bought the pazzion heels that I have been aiming for some time. I spent about 30 mins in the shop deciding on the colour and size of the shoes to get. The grey pair is available in smaller (and more fitting) size but a pity it is not perfect due to some crumpled leather at the back of the shoes. The black one looks nicer on me due to my thunder calves and do not have the crumpled leather defect. However, it is only available in the bigger size.:( I was told that I am not allowed to take photo of the shoes so I am not able to show the picture of the black heels here. Here is a photo of the grey heels:

On my way back to Orchard Mrt, I dropped by cotton on (having great sales from $5) to try my luck in getting a vest similar to this from F21:

Instead, I grabbed a pair of $5 shorts (U.P. $15) and joined the long queue just for this item. When it was my turn to pay, I saw this green floral scarf which I wanted 2 weeks ago when I saw it at the AMK outlet. It was a full priced item ($14.95) then. So happy to get it at $5 today even though I was told it is an ugly scarf. I intend to pair it with my white/ beige tank with a light denim bottom and brown belt. Hope it turns out nice.

Half Moon Pedicure

I haven't mentioned anything about this in my blog... but I have started a craze over nail polish since... erm last year? This is my collection so far.... excluding the earlier bottles of cheaper nail polishes I bought.

I have missed out one bottle of Colour Club Magic Attraction in this shot. I will be taking photos of that bottle together with some of my new collections. =)

From the photo, I realised that the colours of the nail polishes that I have collected so far are mainly the 'darker' colours. The few colours that are considered as 'bright' in the collection is the Sally Hansen pink (at the leftmost of the front row) and this glitter pink polish that I got from Tokyo (rightmost of the back row). The Sephora by OPI is a gift from my friend who went to the States recently, she remembers that I am a fan of blue nail polishes.

Recently, I have been inspired to do the half moon pedicure after reading some posts online. Not very nicely painted, but this is what I came out with on my ugly toes...

This is done with China Glaze Eyes like Sapphire and this gold nail polish I got from John little some time back. I did the 'half moons' with the help from the 'hole reinforcement' stickers that we use to stick on the punched holes of our notes.

I haven't had the time to do the half moon manicure as most of you know that it is not easy to move around when our fingers are freshly painted with the polishes. I hope I will have time to try out some of the new OPI polishes that I have just purchased.

Agnes b. 2010 Spring/ Summer e-mook

Finally collected the Agnes b. e-mook from Kinokuniya Liang Court last Sunday. I can't wait to open the GWP that comes with the e-mook, hence I took a seat at the bench outside the bookstore to open up the GWP.

Sidetrack abit... At Liang Court, I saw this girl who went to the same secondary school and university as I did. She was with her boyfriend but what really caught my eyes was her turquoise quilted Chanel bag. Below is a picture of the Chanel bag. I wish that one day I can own a bag from Chanel too. Being a Niao gui (miser), I am only just beginning to purchase their cosmetics items. =)

Okay, now back to the e-mook. This is the Agnes b. 2010 Spring/Summer e-mook:

And this is the GWP that came with the e-mook. I guess this is the main reason for many of us to get the e-mook. According to the counter staff, the first shipment of the e-mook was sold out very fast upon arrival at the bookstore.

Last year, the Agnes b. lunch tote that came with Steady magazine was accompanied with a plastic Agnes b. voyage charm. This time, the tote that came with the Agnes b. e-mook was accompanied with a red metal charm with ab. print embossed on it. I have hung it on my ab. hearts bag that I got from Japan last August.

This is the GWP bag:

There should be a second shipment of the e-mook coming to Kinokuniya. Hope that every Agnes b. fans managed to get their copy too. =)

Dr Scholl's QTTO Sleeping Socks (寝ながらメディキュット) Review Part 2

I promised to return with the review on the socks.. and here I am! Sorry for the long wait....

This is how one of my calves looks like when wearing the sock

Before I started wearing the socks, I had the vision that wearing these socks will make the fattest part of my calves slimmer. Hence, before I even started wearing them, I measured the fattest part of my calves. After wearing for weeks and even months (although not daily. Some days I was just too tired and dozed off before I even put them on.), I measured the same part of my calves and did not see drastic reduction in the measurement. I am not sure if it is due to human errors or that I did not pay enough attention to the previous measurement, there seems to be around 0.5 cm reduction in the fattest part across my calves.

I was slightly disappointed as I was expecting a drastic reduction in the calves size. At least that was what I thought the sock would have done to my calves. But well, after thinking for some time, it just does not seems to make sense for the calves to reduce a few inches by just wearing the socks for a few months since December 2009. Thus, I decided to do a second test and even took photo of the measurement on my right calf. I shall post a 3rd part of the review if there is any further improvement!!

Putting aside the slimming effects by the socks, I probably should mention some of the benefits the socks brought to my daily life. Everytime my leg was aching and tired after I did my jogging, swimming, shopping or badminton, I will put on the socks and go to sleep (provided I did not dozed off immediately after lying on bed). Each time I put on the socks at night, they give a tight and firm feeling (just like how you feel when you put on your normal tights but it was around 3 times tighter). When I wake up the next morning and took off the socks, the calves seems to have really 'slept' well and is not aching as badly as it was from the previous day's workout. The legs also feel 'lighter' just like what was mentioned in most reviews I read online or even in magazines.

Whether did the socks reduce my calves measurements or not, at least (so far) I am assured that it have prevented my calves measurements from increasing in the past 2 months plus. =)
