Introducing NARS Blusher

NARS Blusher is available in many countries... but sadly, not yet in Singapore. Before December 2009, I din pay much attention to this brand even though it was mentioned in some variety shows and magazines.

But I am so heng (means lucky lah), I got this NARS blusher from a best friend who came back from her overseas trip in Dec 09. She recommended this blusher in Orgasm and insisted that I try it out. Colour Orgasm is supposed to be the most popular and award winning colour and I also found numerous raves in makeupalley. However, colour Deep Throat seems to have a better review in MUA. This crazy (lol... she is going to kill me...) best friend is one of the reasons for my recent craze over cosmetics and skincare as she always introduce new or popular products to me. She is also one of the reasons to cause the big hole in my pocket since then.

Okay okay. Cut the crap. Let's take a look at the packaging first....

Personally, I will be pretty hesitant to get a blusher for the price of approx. SGD46.... but to be fair... I opened up the box to look at the powder first.

Before I forget, my best friend told me that the black box that contains the blusher will melt (becomes sticky) if placed in or near area of high heat. Thus, it is not advisable to place this blusher in areas where sunlight hits your room.

NARS blusher comes with a simple packaging compared to other blushers like Jill Stuart and Shiseido's Integrate Holiday 2009. Seems like one is the 'hollywood' look and the other is the 'sweet/ kawaii' look.

As usual, the camera is not doing the blusher justice as the colour shown here do not represent the actual colour well enough. Nevertheless, the blusher is a beauty just by looking at it. I haven't try the blusher as I am reserving its virgin application for this Saturday's dinner.

I shall post the review on the blusher colour soon!!! So stay tuned....

Shiseido's Integrate Holiday Cheek Colour Review

Finally took some time to post a review on the Cheek Colour from Shiseido's Integrate Holiday collection.

This is how the packaging looks like

as you can see, the specially designed cover can be used as a mirror too.

There are two colours available for this cheek colour: Pink Topaz and Coral. According to the website, colour pink topaz represents blissful and colour coral represents marriage and giving birth (erm.. sounds abit weird but it is a direct translation I did).

As I am a sucker for pretty cosmetics packaging, I bought the coral colour (Colour 2) as a highlighter.

Opening the cover revealed 6 pretty tones of coral, beige, yellow and white shimmer as well as a nicely wrapped mini flat blusher brush. I tested these colours on the back of my hand even though I had no intention of using this blusher then. I do not have any comments on the mini brush as it is similar to the mini brushes from other Integrate's blushers.

I picked up the brush and lightly swept the first two colours (from the left) at the back of my hand. These two strips of coral tone did not impress me as it is similiar to most of the coral blusher I owned except that they comes with pretty shimmers. I went on and did the same for the next two strips of beige tone (in the middle). Maybe due to the darker skin tone of my hand, I am unable to differentiate the beige tone from my skin colour (maybe this colour could have been more obvious if I had put on some foundation). Lastly, with little expectation, I did the same with the yellow and white strips and I believe that Shiseido have put together these 6 colours for a reason. The final 'touch up' with the highlighter colours gives the 'glowing' effect that all ladies love to do for their cheeks. However, the colours from this blusher are pretty sheer just like some reviews mentioned for Integrate Holiday 2008 palette. Overall, I think that it should make a good highlighter over my other blushers which do not come with shimmer.

I went through many attempts to get a good shot of the colours on the back of my hand but only managed to show the shimmery effect of the blusher/highlighter. First photo is taken with flash followed by the one taken without flash.

And of course, Shiseido's Integrate blusher is made in Japan. This makes me feel that what I paid for is worth the money. This also echoed what I meant in the Dr Scholl's Socks review, that quality comes with the tag "Made in Japan".

Some SAs advised me that ladies with darker skin tone should not use orange/ coral tones as it can make her look darker due to the bronzing effect. I am not very sure about this as I have been using coral blusher for some time. However, I also own a couple of pink blushers. I think I will never get enough of blushers that come with awesome packagings. I am glad I got this limited edition Shiseido's Integrate cheek colour to add to my collection of pretty blushers.

I came across the Bobbi Brown Shimmer Bricks on some beauty blogs and found that the Shiseido's Integrate cheek colour somewhat similar in terms of concept. I would not say that the Integrate cheek colour is a dupe of the Bobbi Brown Shimmer Bricks as I have yet to own the latter for a comparison between the two. Furthermore, Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick comes with a wider selection of colours - Rose, Pink, Beige, Bronze, Copper Diamond (Limited Edition), Nude (Limited Edition) and many more. I would like to get hold of the popular Pink or Bronze (or even the Limited Edition Nude) Bobbi Brown Shimmer Bricks and post a review on my blog. According to one of the beauty blogs, the normal size Bobbi Brown Shimmer Bricks costs SGD$67. Below is a picture of the Bobbi Brown Shimmer Bricks in Pink.

Jill Stuart Lip Luster Fall 09 Colours

This is Jill Stuart Lip Luster colour 25 Gleaming Dew and 26 Cute Petal that I got from my overseas trip.

Lip Luster Colour 25 Gleaming Dew

Lip Luster Colour 26 Cute Petal

During my visit to the Jill Stuart counter, I tried on most of the lip luster colours at the back of my hand and is unable to decide which colour I should get. Thus, I got the SA to recommend some suitable or popular colours for me. She recommended colour 26 Cute Petal which is a sweet pink shimmer and pointed out that the poster girl (I vaguely remember it to be the following poster) is wearing that colour. She also tested colour 25 on the back of my hand and said that it is Fall 09 colour together with colour 26.

As I always have problem differentiating the colours from lip glosses (not sure if you also experience this problem), plus the fact that the Jill Stuart packaging is simply too pretty to resist, I bought both colour 25 and 26.

I also bought the Mix Compact Blush (Hall of Fame item in Cozycot) colour 06 Fresh Apricot (人气colour).

Simply gorgeous packaging.... do you agree?
